lack of ram, bad ram parts (yes that can happen even if ugot a one stick of 512)
bad hdd that has error's that ain't showing
Get another stick of 512 ram, take out ur and put that one in (borrow it from some1 for all of 10min's) and see what goes on.
Make sure ur ram is in, take ur hdd out and put in another that has XP in and try that speed.
Dont think its heat but check ur CPU temp just incase
If in doubt get a new computer

wow Adam you make it sound so easy. PC is covered by warrenty. I open it up and they wont accept it. Its not lack of ram. 512 has been running fine. May be busted though. I did have a prog that told you PC temps but have no more. Whats a good program.

motherboard monitor will do the trick for temps that or run ur PC for about 30min, reset it and then go into the bios and go to PC health or something that sounds like that and it will show u ur cpu temp.
512 enough? thats what i run at and it SUCKS. i want 1GB min and 3GB if i had the money. u can never have enough RAM in ur system (as long as u dont run 98 or 98SE)
