Thanks for getting back to us sparky-boy!
Yeah, thats probably true. But for the first few hours of the LAN you might not notice but myself, dan and sometimes other members of the crew are under imense stress sorting problems and troubleshooting. I have actually noticed that most of the troubleshooting is now not to do with our servers or network; its increasingly now to do with the different configurations and problems with individuals PCs and thats annoying tbh. Thats something that needs to be addressed; either a guide or better FAQ to get ppl's systems correct and functional to work with our infrastructure.
As for the no CSS. Well, the first Mawgan LAN, Steam let us down big time, not even working in offline mode (steam is sh!t). And for the second LAN we went through great lengths to get a internet connection installed, of which we had a ISP working hard to do, and as far as they were aware BT had reported to them that it was installed and ready. There was no ADSL connection there on the day, and I was personally in touch with the manager of Core-DSL throughout the day trying to resolve the issue. We had no luck.
No BF2; It was planned to play this. However a lack of enough people having a LEGAL version meant it wasnt worthy of a BF2 DS running. You'll be happy to know there will be a full time one running at the next event. So too with CS 1.6 hopefully.
Yeah I thought COD2 was superb @ this LAN tbfh.
List of games; yes we do have a list of games prior to the LAN. Its on the forums As for telling people; I do try and announce that everyone should play such and such, and make dedicated servers for them. I know when I shout things out people dont listen, hence why I revert to using my microphone as a boost, but I have even found with that people are increasing ignoring me. I mean you cannot honestly say you did not hear me shout out over the microphone to play a certain game numerous times throughout the day.. What more are you supposed to do?
I was even looking at buying a proper handheld microphone for announcements at the LAN, and I think I will get it now, but what difference will it make if people dont listen to me.. and im not really confortable with public speaking like that anyway. As far as I am making the effort; its the audience who arent really responding.
Prior to the event I was pushing the importance for a complete schedule to the event/day. Game schedule, everything. I knew that was important and now it has come to light how important it is. It is certainly not a task that I can take on myself (because the whole crew are involved in the days workings and what goes on). So I need help with this, all the crew together at meetings. Dan I need involvement on yourbehalf on that too please!!!
Spary, it really dosent sound bad, and we honestly do value your feedback. It allows you to voice the points you want too, and I can highlight the problems we have in doing some of the things, and then maybe we can discuss and workout a solution to achieve things
And as for you helping; I really thank you for that, but at the moment we have enough people handling the positions. And I will bear you in mind for the future, but its hard enough for me to get these mutly crew together for meetings as it is, lol.
I like your attitude son! Lets strive for improvements always.
Take care mate, and get back to us,
Ash.
