i have AoM, its a great game to play. can take for ever to have a game. i've got a few custom maps which are great for LAN's - lots of resources and lots of space to build nice large armies. god powers are just funny to play with though.
it needs some admin though, so people dont get over excited with 1 unit and to make sure no1 cheats.

not really, cheating in AoM u can do without ppl noticing. like just adding 1000 more resources. which sounds small but can help.

when u go through the ages all players are told - u see it or hear it. so if people go through very quickly something is wrong. just adding 1000 resources quickly, or changin what god powers u have can be done.
but there is such a great tool to stop people doing this, when making the server u can allow cheats or not! ha! so stop people cheating by not allowing it.

This question may have been answered elsewhere, but is AoM on the list of games for the LAN now then? If so great cos its a class game, but it can be a bit tempremental and crash a lot at times, so if it is played we might only get 1 game

Is it really unstabled? I have just got it in order to test it in time for the LAN.

Well it never used to be bad when I first played, but the ESO online thing can be problematic when alt-tabbing etc.
Also, big maps cause HUGE amounts of lag with enough players, but again im not sure if this will be a problem on a LAN as ive only ever played online.
i reckon we should definitley try it, but if too many problems come up when playing then its probably a good idea to just leave it.

Right, I have just bought this game, installed it, patched it with the official microsoft patch and I have completed to first 4 levels of the game! You know a strategy game is good when you are finding yourself purposely draging the levels out to play longer! LOVE IT! We'll have this one at the LAN! Thanks for the recommendation guys! I have played it for hours already and it hasnt crashed on me once, so its looking good.

Goodgood, do you have the titans expansion pack by any chance? Ive got that and it adds a whole new aspect to the game with the atlantean civ and titan myth units, so if it will help i can bring that along, or we can just play regular AoM if the CD key thing and the extra installing is too much hassle (titans may be a bad idea though, my turma spamming will pwn you )

Nah, we'll be sticking to ordinary AoM for the LAN.
